Mercor published a public research project, the 'Benchmark Map,' analyzing how well 29 widely used AI benchmarks cover real American jobs, finding that only 208 of 923 O*NET occupations and about 4.9% of 18,797 tasks have adequate benchmark coverage — meaning roughly 90% of U.S. working hours are tied to tasks current AI benchmarks don't assess well.
